The Town council of Les Herbiers has delegated the task of waste management to the Community of Communes of the Pays des Herbiers.
Selective collection and voluntary disposal:
For several years now, it has implemented selective waste disposal in the area, opting for voluntary disposal:
- Household packaging and containers (yellow bags*) and the standard dustbin (black bags) in semi-buried containers.
- Glass and paper in columns
- Cardboard boxes in specific containers
- Clothing in specific containers

(*) Yellow bags can be obtained from the reception desk of the Community des Communes, from Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to midday, and from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
The tip at the Trébussonnière
The waste dump of Les Herbiers can be accessed from the south deviation and is located close to La Trébussonnière. The tip at Les Herbiers (La Trébussonnière) accepts all large and bulky waste.
A personal badge is obligatory and can be obtained on request from the Community of Communes (with proof of residency).
Opening times of the tip at Les Herbiers:
- Monday: 9h-12h30
- Wednesday: 9h-12h30 and 14h30-18h
- Friday: 9h-12h30 and 14h30-18h
- Saturday: 9h-12h30 and 14h30-18h
Composting
Composters are available from the Community of Communes for a contribution of € 10.
In 2004, the Community of Communes successfully launched composting on its territory, to make use of kitchen and garden waste.
The Community of Communes provides plastic composters for its inhabitants for a small fee of € 10 (call +33(0)2 51 66 82 27, or e-mail compost@cc-paysdesherbiers.fr).
Dog messes
8 distributors of bags for picking up dog mess have been installed in the centre of town: Parc de la Mairie, Place des Anciens combattants d'Afrique du Nord, and Place du Marché.
Don't forget that owners have a legal obligation to clean up after their animals. Negligent owners face fines of up to € 38.
