Place des Droits de l'homme
Renovation works on the Place des Droits de l'Homme will make the current town centre bigger, offering new commercial premises. The Tour des Arts is already located on this future square, providing artistic teaching, creation, and diffusion, and houses the music and dance conservatoires.
A commitment to sustainable development
Conscious of environmental issues, the Town council and Community of communes of
the Pays des Herbiers have implemented a policy in favour of sustainable development. An exemplary policy that was awarded the National "Rubans" award for Sustainable development 2009-2011.
Agenda 21: sustainable development, what it really means, day to day.
This policy is reflected by the implementation of a programme of 37 actions that come under Agenda 21. These actions affect us all in our day to day lives: energy, water, transport, housing, education, waste, consumerism, social ties, etc.
The Town council of Les Herbiers no longer uses chemical products to clean public amenities, and encourages the local population to do likewise in order to promote biodiversity and improve the quality of our water supply.
