International relations

The Herbretais have long looked beyond the hills of their bocage to discover the world, in the wake of their navigators.
Today, this traditional spirit of open-mindedness continues, maintained by the action of local associations, entrepreneurs, and the Town Council: the Herbretais have become mindful and enlightened citizens of the world.

Twinning (ink)

The Pays des Herbiers is twinned with three European communes: Liebertwolkwitz, in the district of Leipzig (Germany), Newtown (Wales), and Coria (Spain).
Lead by the Twinning association, these links result in regular exchanges, whether sporting, cultural, artistic, or economic. For more than 10 years, a solid friendship now links our 4 communes.

Associations, motors for solidarity (ink)

Several local associations are constantly working to improve the living conditions of precarious populations in other countries, whilst respecting their cultures.

In Burkina Faso:
- The Tembo association
- Song Taaba Burkina, Aid to Burkina Faso
- Support for the secondary school of Koudougou in Burkina Faso (Teelgo)- Yam Zoodo, Aid with the schooling of children in Tiogo (Burkina Faso)

In Togo:
- The Twinning association Cooperation with Adeta les Herbiers (AJCAH)
- Essome-Togo

In Morocco:
- The Gazelle Berbère
- J'M SOHATI (Jean Monnet - Solidarity, Humanity, Friendship for Tiznit)

The Charter of Les Herbiers (ink)
On 23 June 2006, several dozen communes and communities of communes from the Vendée, Poland, and Romania, reunited in Les Herbiers to sign the Charter of Les Herbiers to seal European friendship.

This charter of exchanges and partnerships aims to support relations between the signatory communes, to encourage citizen participation of young people, and to create communal projects with countries that have recently joined the Union.
